| A bibliographic database of scientific papers published by authors affiliated worldwide, especially focused in Europe and in the European Atlantic Area, and containing the keywords “microalga(e)” or “phytoplankton” was built. A corpus of 79,020 publications was obtained and analyzed using the Orbit Intellixir software to highlight the evolution of the research domain. Publication rates from 1960 to 2019, organization of the research, collaboration networks between countries and organizations, emerging and fading research concepts, major studied species, and associated concepts, as well as journals publishing microalgae research were considered. | As an introduction to the entire volume, this article outlines the relationships among the five elements of the Census of Marine Life (CoML) that create new knowledge: (1) The Ocean Biogeographic Information System (OBIS), a marine component of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility, links marine databases around the world to provide an Internet accessible, dynamic interface for comparing species-level, geo-referenced biodiversity data in relation to ocean habitats. | A Unidade de Execucao de Pesquisa de Ambito Estadual de Corumba, da Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuaria (EMBRAPA), tem como objetivos avaliar as potencialidades dos diferentes ecossistemas da regiao e estabelecer o suporte cientifico que devera nortear sua exploracao em bases economicas e ecologicas. Espera-se que, com a geracao e adaptacao de tecnologia, seja possivel, a curto e medio prazo, obter incrementos positivos nos indices de produtividade da pecuaria regional. | O trabalho apresenta a pesquisa desenvolvida e resultados obtidos pela EMBRAPA/IBDF, atraves do seu Programa Nacional de Pesquisa Florestal (PNPF), com especies do genero Prosopis, na regiao Nordeste do Brasil. A rede experimental e constitui de 32 ensaios instalados nos Estados de Pernambuco, Paraiba, Rio Grande do Norte e Bahia. A pesquisa com Prosopis abrange ensaios de competicao de especies e progenies, propagacao vegetativa, extracao de sementes e armazenamento, espacamento de plantio, produtividade madeireira e de vagens e agrossilcicultura. As especies atualmente em estudo sao: P. alba, P. chilensis, P. glandulosa, P. juliflora, P. pallida, P. tamarugo, P. velutina. |

| Na regiao dos Cerrados, o comportamento de especies/procedencias de Eucalyptus e bastante variavel de acordo com as condicoes climaticas e edaficas do local do plantio e tambem de acordo com a origem do material genetico, com produtividade variando de 15 a 60 m3/ha/ano. E. pilularis tem melhor desempenho em cerrado de alta altitude (1000 m). Em altitudes mais baixas, este material apresenta problemas fitossanitarios e fisiologicos. E. grandis desenvolve-se melhor em chuvas. Procedencias de Atherton sao as mais indicadas; procedencias do sul da Australia, apesar de apresentarem as maiores taxas de crescimento ate os sete anos de idade, apos este periodo sao acometidas de disturbios fisiologicos, causando a morte de grande numero de plantas adultas. | Fruit flies are recognised as one of the major pests of fruit and vegetable crops worldwide. Potential benefits from fruit fly research include biosecurity benefits from better quarantine surveillance that reduces the costs of an incursion by a damaging exotic pest fruit fly; market access benefits by enabling new fruit exports; and field control benefits from better crop management. | Extension marketing economists were surveyed to determine whether they are using available research results and whether research is being conducted on topics relevant to extension marketing economists. In some cases, the beliefs of extension marketing economists differ from recent research results. The research topics recommended by extension economists and the topics of papers presented at the 1994-97 annual NCR-134 Conference on Applied Commodity Price Analysis, Forecasting, and Market Risk Management are well matched. While relevant research is being done, many extension economists desire marketing strategies that both reduce risk and increase income. Research, however, has not produced such strategies. |
